Beyer
Peacock, Vulcan Foundry, O&K,
Werkspoor, Baldwin, Metrocammel, etc. are some of the builders that supplied
material to Argentina for a period of nearly 100 years and which you can admire nowadays at our premises. These masterpieces can be seen every Saturday and Sunday, traveling a short distance from BA, at the Escalada branch of Ferroclub Argentino. |
| The exhibition, which comprises a whole range of rolling stock plus memorabilia from long gone years, are all in an area of 3 acres that were originally part of one of the biggest shops in Argentina, and includes parking, restrooms, buffet on an old dinning car, museum, library, HO modelling and souvenirs, plus a beautiful 10 1/4" gauge railway that traverses the wholepark and makes an inroad into our neighbours the Lanus University. | |
| Through links in this page, even
though its in spanish, you can plan a visit looking
at the maps, or/and admire the jewels in exhibition. Also a complete
list of vehicles on show is included in the site which you can easily
print. Our non-government railway preservation society is distributed in 4 premises around Buenos Aires, at Villa Lynch, Haedo, Tolosa and Escalada. You can link from this page to see what tresures they stock. You will be surprised! |

These were the heaviest loco’s in its class (201 tons with tender) to run in Argentina. Built in 1949 by The Vulcan Foundry (U.K). The order originally comprised 50 loco’s, but after 30 were delivered the order was cancelled and 21 diesels built instead. They were never successful (are we talking about the T1?), or better said, they never established a love affair with the traction and running department. |

Aside
from 5037 the only other broad gauge diesel preserved is 8018, only remaining example left of the French Alsthom locomotives to run in Argentina. high speed diesel engine, they were also the most complicated diesels to run in the country.
